Ramayanam
Have I told you? Akshaya is hooked on this defining Hindu epic! She gets my dad to read and re read and now us too to read the comic version of the story to her. She remembers fairly hard to remember names and all kinds of minor incidents. She can retell the story fabulously. She engages in dramatizing the story and chooses characters - eg sweet Minnie mouse to play Sita deciding pooh is too sweet to play ravana and so appointing a lion instead to play that role- its given her a whole new way of exploring things- her vocabulary has been enriched like anything too!

Updates on love affair with Ramayana
ReplyDeletewe watched a 3 1/2 hour dance drama production of Ramayana last week, with Vrinda, Sham and Siva - she loved it! it was an Asian confluence of dance forms, with Bharatanatyam, Oddisi, Balinese and Thai dance forms - very nice, very intereting - Akshaya loved it! she is into dance dramas and wants to watch the next one by the Temple of Fine Arts on Anjenaya.
Point to note - I was having a splitting headache that day, barely recovering from a terrible flu, and Saro dropped by with a Panadol, instead of offering to watch the second half of the production with his daughter! harumph. he went partying and drinking! double harumph!
