Poem akshaya

The Little Girl Who Ate Books

They say, sir, she has
Whole worlds inside her

They draw from her depths.
Reels and reels unravel.

The Naughtiest Girl,
Harry and Hermoine
A Dog named Shadow
August and Summer
Pippi Longstocking
Mathilda
...
This could go on sir
...
Hungry caterpillars
Children on bikes chasing down clues
Girls hiding in attics, writing diaries
braving bullets, fighting for rights
...
Now she's on about mystic lands sir
...
The Magic Faraway Tree
Wardrobes opening into wintery forests
Mount Olympus...

- Akshaya, Aged 10
